A self-hosted Kythene runs against a signed licence it validates locally at startup, so it keeps running whether or not it can reach the internet - connectivity never gates your team's access.
By default nothing phones home - no outbound calls at all. Want hands-off renewal instead? Opt in by pointing it at the storefront and it checks in for a refreshed licence as expiry nears, so you never have to re-key by hand. Either way there's no metering service in the day-to-day path, and nothing that can quietly switch your team off mid-session.

Deploy the image
Run the Kythene container against your own Postgres and object store. Free for a single user - the self-hosting setup guide walks you through the compose file, the .env and the first run.
Set up in the browser
First run walks you through creating your admin and getting the team on. No config files to guess at.
Add a licence to grow
For your team, drop in a licence key (Enterprise self-host) to lift the cap and unlock paid features. It validates offline; the only outbound call is an optional renewal check you can switch off.

What it needs
A container runtime, a Postgres database and an S3-compatible object store - all yours. Nothing else to stand up, and the setup guide gives you a compose file that wires it together.
Upgrades
Pull a newer image and restart - migrations run themselves on boot. Your licence keeps working across upgrades, and you choose when to move.

Free single-user runs on the docs and the community. A team licence comes with best-effort email support; Enterprise adds a direct line and help sized to your deployment.
